The final Par 3 at Tetherow Golf Club in Bend, Oregon can be described in one word: Stunning. Perhaps the most commonly pictured golf hole in the state, the 17th Hole at Tetherow has quickly become legendary for its natural beauty and difficulty of play. While course architect David McLay Kidd prefers the term "Cover Girl" to the more commonly used "Signature Hole", this hole fits either name. Built into the former grounds of a rock quarry, your first concern from the tee is to carry the sand that leads all the way to the green. Your preferred shot is to keep the ball left, as the green naturally slopes to the right. Anything missed to the right will lead you into a difficult sand trap, that is a real challenge to get up and down from. If you are between clubs, choose your longer club, as anything long will feed back to the hole. Once on the green, you should have a makable putt, as the green is half the size of any other on the course. Most importantly, soak in the sights
of this beautiful hole, as there is not much else like it in the world.
