A new shoe has arrived in town and its turning the traditional golf show on its axis. Kikkor Golf, based in Vancouver, BC and created by former NCAA champion and Washington Huskies golfer James Lepp offers a new take on the golf shoe geared towards younger players. Gone are the traditonal saddles of old, replaced with edgy styles and colors. In fact, Kikkor Golf Shoes look more like a shoe you would see at a skate park than a country club. Kikkor Golf Shoes offer high comfort while allowing the golfer to – in Kikkor’s own words – be more awesome.
Since its inception last year, Kikkor has challenged the conception of the traditional golf shoe. Kikkor offers four equally unique models, as well as a women’s shoe. The marquee line in the 2011 series is the Tenny, available in three colors including the popular Clayburn, a gray suede skate style shoe. The Dress Sneaker is the next step in Kikkor Shoes. Offered in three colors, the Dress Sneaker may be the most eye catching shoe of the bunch. Both the Tenny and Dress Sneaker offer Kikkor’s unique D.E.S.S. (Diacon Embedded Spik System) in which the cleat is built in to the sole. This is designed to keep the player closer to the ground. While you are unable to change the spikes when they wear out, the built in spike lasts longer than a traditional spike, and is designed to outlast the shoes they are attached to.
The Retro is the next shoe in the line. The Retro has the look and feel of an athletic shoe. Included in this line is the Women’s Retra, similar to the Retro in feminine colors. Finally, the Eppik 2.0 is a new take on the original Kikkor shoe, the Eppik, which takes its style from a skate shoe. The Retro, Women’s Retra and Eppik 2.0 each use traditional spikes at its base. Each Kikkor Shoe has a completely different look, while appealing towards the newest generation of golfers
Kikkor Golf Shoes look great, but how do they play? After several rounds I have found Kikkor Shoes to be extremely comfortable. The embedded spikes add another unique touch to the shoe, keeping the player closer to the ground allowing a better feel for the game. The Retro and Retra allow you to remove the spikes, and look good on or off the course. Overall, ther Kikkor Shoes provide both style and substance, which can be hard to find.
Kikkor Golf Shoes offer a great alternative to the traditional golf shoe. NWGolfGuys readers can take 10% any order at Kikkor Golf. To take advantage of this offer, visit Kikkor's website and enter the code “NWGOLFGUYS” at checkout.
