Robocup Putting Aid Review

Robocup Review

RoboCup, by Fine Tune Golf is a putting training tool that many of us could have used years ago. RoboCup is a ball retrieval tool that kicks your ball back to you after you make your putt. Included in the package is a "Caddy Cord" as well, so even missed putts are sent back to you. The concept is simple really. The easier is it to retrieve your ball, the more you will practice your putting stroke, the more putts you drain on the course. In fact, RoboCup was the winner of the Best New Product Award at the 2009 PGA Merchandise show and it only take a few quick putts to see why. There may not be a better putting aide on the market than the RoboCup.

Using your RoboCup is easy. It takes 4 AA batteries, which according to the manufacturer will allow up to 12,000 putts. From there, you simply place the RoboCup in a hole at the practice green, with the retrieval spring facing away from you. Pace the Caddy Cord behind the cup and away you go! After setting up your RoboCup, all you need to do is step back anywhere up to 14 feet from the cup and putt away. Since the ball is sent back to you with some force, the ideal range seems to be 5 feet and beyond. You can putt with one ball, and are still able to putt noticably faster than if you had three balls on the green with you. Another side effect of using the RoboCup is that you will see is more putts getting to the cup. Since you know that the ball will come back to you, it seems to create a more confident stroke. We all know short putts never fall, so this can be very helpful to your putting stroke.

The only minor quibble that can made about the RoboCup is that you don't great a great read on the speed of your putts. Since the Caddy Cord sends the ball into the cup, you do not get an accurate gage of how far your ball would have ended past the hole. This can be fixed by not using the Caddy Cord, however you will want to keep more balls on hand in case of misses. However, I would call that minor, since the point of the RoboCup is to create a more conisitent stroke. If you, like most players need help with your shortest of short games, then the RoboCup by Fine Tune Golf is the ultimate training tool.
